Why you should be posting Reels

Like it or not Instagram isn’t just a photo-sharing app any more. Meta have been clear that video is the future of the platform and it is currently all about the Reel.

Reels are essentially looping videos, used primarily on Instagram, which often have music underneath and can be up to 90 second in length.

According to Meta, Reels make up 20% of the time that users spend on Instagram. Now considering that they are a fairly new addition to the platform, that is pretty impressive.

Recently Meta has taken away the video tab and now all have fallen under the Reels banner. Showing again that Reels are taking priority.

So why do you need to be posting them.

1.      They go hand in hand with higher engagement rates.

Basically, Meta is showing them to more people helping your brand reach, and if they are good, your engagement too.

2.      The Algorithm loves them.

How often does a static post go viral? Yet, you look at the explore page and it’s all about the Reel. And granted it isn’t all about going viral, but it is about extending your reach all the time.

3.      It’s a chance to get creative.

Instagram wouldn’t be doing its job well if it wasn’t trying to up its game all the time. Reels are its way of pushing the platform forward and your chance to bring something new to the platform.

4.      You don’t need a big budget or loads of time to create.

Reels don’t have to be resource intensive. They can be simple, quick and still get great results. By looking at the things you like in Reels you can be inspired to create more. Reels quite simply go some way to level the playing field between brands.

5.      Getting seen.

Reels are a quick and easy way for you to get seen by more people. They may not all be your target or dream client, but its more of a chance than by not using Reels.
